TI CEO Podcast · episode 38
Why a change of environment can sometimes do you good
1-minute summary
Christoph Standl talks in this episode about his visit to Oktoberfest in Munich, which he spent together with two entrepreneur and investor friends. He explains that this gave him the chance to experience the city from a guest's perspective, and stresses how valuable such shifts in perspective can be for someone who has worked in tourism for many years. He describes how conversations outside the office often turn out differently and more openly, and recounts how, during one such conversation, he talked about how Tourismus Interaktiv uses AI agents and structures its workflows. This led to a simple but important realization: every task needs a clear deadline, and if none is deliberately set, that should be documented as well. He emphasizes that big strategies are often unnecessary — sometimes a single conversation is enough to sharpen an idea. Finally, he notes that a change of environment does him good, and that, unlike in the past, he no longer feels guilty about combining regular office days with such inspiring, refreshing experiences.
Description
Yesterday I was at Oktoberfest in Munich together with two entrepreneur and investor friends of mine. A lovely day with good food, lots of fun, and above all, good conversations.
For me, it was also an opportunity to experience Munich once again from a guest's perspective. Especially when you've been working in tourism for many years yourself, such shifts in perspective are exciting.
One of our conversations was also about how we at Tourismus Interaktiv now work with AI agents, tasks, and structured processes. During that, a really simple sentence came up: tasks need deadlines.
Not a groundbreaking insight – but a good impulse to implement an existing idea even more consistently.
This episode is therefore about changes of environment, outside perspectives, and the realization that work doesn't always have to happen at a desk. Sometimes, especially during a good conversation, thoughts emerge that you then carry back into everyday life.
And sometimes you're allowed to simply have fun while doing it.
And remember: big changes often start with small daily steps.
