TI CEO Podcast · episode 37
Growth needs growth capital
1-minute summary
Christoph Standl talks in this episode about how companies should finance growth, a question that has occupied him for a long time as an entrepreneur. He explains that a business can grow step by step for years, but at some point the scale changes, requiring new structures, technology and preparation for the next stage. At that point, he says, equity becomes increasingly important, and as a stock corporation, shares naturally matter to Tourismus Interaktiv. For him, a share is not just a financial instrument but a way of taking part in a company's long-term development. He acknowledges that debt capital has its place, but believes growth should not always rely on more debt. Growth eventually needs growth capital, and equity through shares can be part of that basis. With the financial year ending on September 30th, he sees this as a good moment to prepare the company financially and organizationally for its next phase, aiming not for fast growth but for healthy, sustainable growth. He invites listeners to join the investor portal or write to him directly.
Description
How do you actually finance the next phase of growth for a company?
In this episode, I talk about why, after twelve years of Tourismus Interaktiv, the topic of equity capital is becoming increasingly important to me – and what role shares play in this as a long-term form of company participation.
Of course, debt capital also has its place. But in my view, growth shouldn't automatically mean taking on more and more debt. At some point, growth also needs growth capital.
The upcoming balance sheet date on September 30 is therefore a good moment for me to look back and ask: Where do we stand today – and how do we want to finance the next phase of development for Tourismus Interaktiv?
The goal isn't to grow as big as possible as fast as possible, but to create the conditions for healthy, long-term growth.
