1-minute summary

In this episode of his CEO diary, Christoph Standl opens a new themed week: long-term thinking in a world that is becoming ever more short-term. That, he believes, is one of the greatest competitive advantages of our time. The world keeps getting faster – the smartphone constantly, headlines, social media by the second; companies are measured by quarterly figures and decisions are made according to what happens today or tomorrow. The important questions fade into the background: not what happens next week, but where you want to stand in ten or twenty years. That question has accompanied him throughout twelve years as an entrepreneur. Of course there were setbacks and hard times – Corona was one of the greatest challenges and its effects are still felt today. But he always tried to focus not only on the current moment but on the long-term direction: if the direction is right, detours are part of it. Many people miss their goals not because they aren't good enough, but because they give up too early. Big companies aren't built in a year, trust isn't built in a month, experience doesn't arise overnight – everything of lasting value takes time. That's why he tries to stay patient: not passively but actively, a small step every day, because many small steps add up over the years to a big development. His question: which decision could you make today that helps you not tomorrow, but in ten years? Big changes often begin with small daily steps.
