1-minute summary

In this episode of his CEO diary, Christoph Standl tells why, after around twelve years, he still enjoys working in tourism. There are still moments when he thinks: actually, I have a pretty nice job. Most recently in the Salzkammergut in Hallstatt, where Tourismus Interaktiv put an interactive outdoor infopoint into operation. It is the special places – from the Tyrolean mountains to the Baltic Sea to the Salzkammergut – but above all the people, encounters and ideas that make this industry what it is for him. Many of Tourismus Interaktiv's solutions come from customers' concrete requirements: a single problem becomes a solution, and that in turn becomes a product that is later used in many places. One question remains particularly important to him: what would I want myself as a guest? Because for all the technology, cloud, automation and artificial intelligence, in the end it is about something very simple – helping people get the right information at the right time. For him, tourism connects people, travel, technology and new ideas; and that is exactly why he is looking forward to the coming years in this industry. Big changes often begin with small daily steps.

Description

After around twelve years in tourism there are still moments when I think: actually, I have a pretty nice job. Last week I was in the beautiful Salzkammergut in Hallstatt, where we put one of our interactive outdoor infopoints into operation. In this episode I talk about why working in tourism still gives me so much joy after many years. It's the special places – from the Tyrolean mountains to the Baltic Sea to the Salzkammergut. But above all it's the people, encounters and ideas that make this industry what it is for me. Many of our solutions at Tourismus Interaktiv come from concrete requirements of our customers. A single problem can lead to a solution – and that in turn to a product that is later used in many places. One question remains particularly important to me: What would I want myself as a guest? Because in the end, for all the technology, cloud, automation and artificial intelligence, it is about something very simple: helping people get the right information at the right time. For me, tourism connects people, travel, technology and new ideas. And that is exactly why I am looking forward to the coming years in this industry. Big changes often begin with small daily steps.
