Why the right people are decisive
1-minute summary
In this episode of his CEO diary, Christoph Standl talks about why the right people are decisive in entrepreneurship. Nobody builds a company alone: there is a CEO who pursues a vision and carries responsibility, but without the right people it doesn't work. At Tourismus Interaktiv that is, for example, his authorised officer Nadine – together they form the management team and are also the majority owners. She brings deep tourism know-how, he focuses on technology, corporate development, financing and the long-term vision. As in football, a good team needs different positions and skills, but one shared goal. Family, friends, employees, customers, partners, mentors and investors are part of the journey too – some people from his personal circle have even invested their own money. Whoever entrusts you with their money gives not just capital but trust, and with trust comes responsibility. Looking back, he sees not the story of a lone entrepreneur but a network of people. One of his most important tasks as CEO is therefore to bring the right people together and give them room for their strengths. His question: which people have shaped your path – and is today a good day to say thank you to one of them? Big changes often begin with small daily steps.
Description
No company is built by one person alone. In this episode of my CEO diary I talk about why the right people are, for me, one of the decisive factors in entrepreneurship. At Tourismus Interaktiv I see it every day. My authorised officer Nadine and I together form the management team and are at the same time the majority owners of our company. We bring different strengths to it: tourism know-how, technology, corporate development, financing and the long-term vision. For me it's like football: A team of eleven strikers would probably not work particularly well. You need different positions and different skills – but one shared goal. Many more people belong to my entrepreneurial journey, though: family and friends, employees, customers, business partners, mentors and investors. Some people from my personal circle not only believed in me and my ideas, but at some point also invested their own money in Tourismus Interaktiv. I by no means take that for granted. Because: When someone entrusts you with their own money, there is more than capital behind it. There is trust. And with that trust comes responsibility. When I look back today, I therefore don't see the story of a single entrepreneur. I see a network of people who contributed their part in very different places. One of my most important tasks as CEO is therefore: To bring the right people together, to use their different strengths and to build a team together. My question to you: Which people have decisively shaped your path? Perhaps today is a good day to simply say thank you to one of them. Big changes often begin with small daily steps.
